Saudi Arabia, UAE, Jordan, Egypt Back Trump’s Israel-Palestine Plan: Report

(MEE— Four Arab countries are backing Donald Trump’s plan for a settlement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, according to an Israeli newspaper, and are willing to sideline the PA’s President Mahmoud Abbas to see it done.

According to a report in Israel Hayom, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Jordan told Jared Kushner, the US President Trump’s son-in-law and the man charged with solving the Israel-Palestine issue, and envoy Jason Greenblatt they were behind Washington’s so-called “deal of the century”.

Israel Hayom, a daily newspaper owned by billionaires Miriam and Sheldon Adelson, reported that it spoke to officials from the four Arab countries.

The officials are said to have told the paper that their countries have decided to back the US plan regardless of whether Abbas and the PA engage with it.

In the report, a “top Egyptian official” says the countries are unanimous in their position that were the US to go over Abbas’ head and attempt to implement the settlement plan, they would not be opposed to it.

Since taking the presidency, Trump has often framed himself as the man to finally negotiate an end to the Israel-Palestine conflict.

However, in recognising Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, he has been accused by Abbas and the PA of clearly favouring the Israelis and therefore excluding the US from the role of honest dealmaker.

The Palestinians seek East Jerusalem, occupied by Israel since the 1967 Middle East war, as the capital of a future Palestinian state.

Enraged by the Trump administration’s stance, Abbas has refused to engage with the US’ attempts to implement its Israel-Palestine strategy.

Deal or No Deal

Though yet to be announced, many of the details of Trump’s “deal of the century” appear to be common knowledge.

Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat, who has been at the forefront of efforts to end the Israeli occupation and set up a Palestinian state for decades, told MEE last week the “deal of the century” was no deal at all.

He said Washington was already implementing its strategy on the ground, regardless of the Palestinians and their interests.

The Americans had become “nothing else than spokespeople for the Israeli occupation”, Erekat said, adding that the US intention was to “normalise Israeli apartheid”.

According to the Israel Hayom report, however, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Cairo and Amman are not sympathetic to the PA’s position and reject Abbas’ own rejection of Trump’s settlement.

They see Abbas’ refusal to engage with the Americans as a misstep. MEE reported in March that Abbas had been handed a copy of the US plan by Saudi officials, yet refused to look at it.

According to the Israeli daily, a senior Jordanian official said Kushner and Greenblatt were told the ‎‎”Arab states will not be the ones to throw a wrench ‎in the wheels of the peace process, and that Abbas’ ‎continued refusal to work with the Americans will ‎lead to a regional peace plan being launched without ‎him.”‎

They did, however, underline that “they would not be party to any ‎deal that compromises Palestinian interests”, the report said.

“Despite the strategic mistakes made by Abu Mazen ‎‎[Abbas] and his people,” an Egyptian official told Israel Hayom, “Kushner and Greenblatt were ‎told, in no uncertain terms, that the Palestinians ‎deserve an independent Palestinian state with East ‎Jerusalem as its capital.”‎

“Kushner agreed to the Arab nations’ demand and made ‎in [sic] clear during his meetings with [Jordan’s] King ‎Abdullah and [Egyptian] President [Abdel-Fattah] el-‎Sissi that the interests of the Palestinian people ‎will not be harmed if the regional peace plan is ‎introduced without the Palestinian leadership’s ‎cooperation,” he said.

Poof. There Goes the Mueller Investigation

The corporate media is reporting intrepid crusader Robert Mueller is preparing to do a Pontius Pilate on his special council investigation of Russia and the Trump campaign.

According to WaPo, Mueller has beefed up his team with a number of prosecutors and the job of prosecuting Russian nationals for supposedly influencing the 2016 election will be fobbed off on them.

“The Post reports that the new hires are the first indication of Mueller preparing for the end of his investigation,” WaPo reported.

The Trump component is in the process of performing a disappearing act in slow motion. The investigation petered out months ago. Democrats continued to pound on it. Because it’s all they have. The establishment Resistance run by Pelosi and Schumer is treading water and looking toward the midterms.

It’s like simple math. There is no evidence Trump or his associates colluded with Putin and the Russians to somehow—through the exaggerated influence of social media—throw the election in his favor.

This nonsense was dispelled early on.

It’s true. Enterprising Russians ran a lucrative clickbait scheme on social media—just like hundreds of other entrepreneurs. It took the the Democrats—fresh off a humiliating defat to a casino and real estate windbag—to make up a fantasy deserving of a novel discount bin.

Establishment Dems counted on the corporate media to whip up the required hysteria and frenzy among already hysterical and frenzied liberals,. Many apparently sought trauma counseling after the election.

Even with the media lavishing coverage on the Mueller investigation, it has failed to do much of anything except get Paul Manafort, Michael Cohen, and others in trouble—not for working under Putin’s direction to get the MAGA candidate elected, but for alleged bank fraud and violation of campaign finance laws.

This is pretty routine stuff in Washington.

Mueller doesn’t have a case and he knows it. Now he will save face by passing off the investigation to underlings.

Meanwhile, the rest of us get respite—until the next drummed up load of horse manure masquerading as high crimes and misdemeanors appears on the scene.

Not to worry. There are always stories of political intrigue to fascinate the proles—for fifteen minutes at least—and distract from the real issues: endless war and a bankster rigged economy slowly turning America into a third world cesspool.

I am celebrating this decision.

I am celebrating that it will mostly disappear from the news cycle. I am celebrating petulant Democrats suffering another defeat and also celebrating denying self-righteous Republicans a chance to climb up on their soapboxes.

Of course, they’ll come up with something else, they always do.

The establishment political class is not about to stop rolling out distractions that are poorly planned political theater stunts that could use better writing and managerial skills.

Reality Check: The FBI Planted a Spy In the Trump Campaign?

The FBI planted a spy in the Trump campaign?

Turns out that claim is true. But the story is so much deeper than that.

Who that spy has turned out to be, is a man with CIA connections who has inserted himself into presidential campaigns before. And the fact that the DOJ has fought to keep his identity a secret is completely reshaping what we know about the investigation in Russian meddling.

This is a Reality Check you won’t get anywhere else.

The investigation into a possible connection between Russia and the Trump campaign just took a dramatic twist, with reports confirming the use of an FBI informant embedded within the Trump campaign in the run up to the 2016 election.

In a tweet Friday, President Trump wrote, “Reports are there was indeed at least one FBI representative implanted, for political purposes, into my campaign for president. It took place very early on, and long before the phony Russia hoax became a ‘hot’ Fake News story. If true – all time biggest political scandal!”

The Department of Justice and several spokespersons for the FBI did not deny that a spy had been embedded in the Trump campaign but they described the individual as an informant. Turns out he is much more than that.

Who was that informant exactly, and what makes the fact that he personally was embed in the trump campaign even more concerning?

His name is Stefan Halper. And according to The Intercept, “Halper was responsible for a long-forgotten spying scandal involving the 1980 election, in which the Reagan campaign – using CIA officials managed by Halper, reportedly under the direction of former CIA director and then-vice-presidential candidate George H.W. Bush – got caught running a spying operation from inside the Carter administration. The plot involved CIA operatives passing classified information about Carter’s foreign policy to Reagan campaign officials in order to ensure the Reagan campaign knew of any foreign policy decisions that Carter was considering.”

So while the DOJ has intentionally painted a picture of this informant as some sort of as a super secret high level, covert intelligence asset, he actually is not. He is an informant who has worked in Washington for years providing information to the CIA.

At this point we know that Halper met with three Trump campaign advisers in 2016.

George Papadopoulos, who Halper contacted, offering him $3,000 to write a policy paper on issues related to Turkey, Cyprus, Israel and the Leviathan natural gas field. Halper also offered to pay for Papadopoulos’s flight and a three-night stay in London.

Papadopoulos completed the project and was paid for it. But it was what happened while Papadopoulos was in London that is of interest.

From The Daily Caller, “According to a source with knowledge of the meeting, Halper asked Papadopoulos: ‘George, you know about hacking the emails from Russia, right?’Papadopoulos told halper he didn’t know anything about emails or Russian hacking…”

Halper also met with Trump aide, Carter Page, “at a July 2016 symposium held at Cambridge regarding the upcoming election, Page told The DCNF [Daily Caller News Foundation]. The pair remained in contact for several months.”

So a least three Trump aides were contacted by Halper… two of those aides have been under FBI investigation and one of those aides has pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI.

If we look at Halper in the course of presidential politics and history, then we know that Halper was part of one of the largest attempts ever for the CIA to push their former director to become president. When George H.W. Bush ran for president, Halper was a foreign policy aide.

As The Intercept points out, “In 1980, the Washington Post published an article reporting on the extremely unusual and quite aggressive involvement of the CIA in the 1980 presidential campaign.”

The CIA had never before backed a presidential and then vice presidential candidate so openly as it did with George H.W. Bush. That is, not until 2016, when former CIA officials publicly and aggressively backed Hillary Clinton

Former acting CIA Director Michael Morell publicly endorsed Clinton in the New York Times. George W. Bush’s CIA and NSA Director Gen. Michael Hayden called Trump a “clear and present danger.”

Reality Check here: The secret informant the FBI used in 2016, is not some top secret asset whose identity needed to be protected. Instead, it is a well known CIA informant whose role in a clearly unethical and possible illegal spying effort during the 1980 election is very well known.

That’s Reality Check. Let’s talk about that, right now, on Facebook and Twitter.
