An Idiot’s National Emergency

It’s not proper form to open a blog post by calling a sitting president an idiot who knows not what he talks or tweets about. Even so, the conclusion is inescapable.

President Donald Trump is an idiot, at least when it comes to navigating politics, but then this is basically de rigueur in America. As a nation, we know very little about the rest of the world or for that matter our own country, and that includes the real number of criminals, drug smugglers, human traffickers, and terrorists crossing the border.

I live in Las Cruces, New Mexico, less than fifty miles from the US-Mexico border. There is far less crime here than in Chicago, New York, and San Francisco (the liberal troika). I lived in Chicago in the late 1990s, and I can say the murder rate there at that time was far worse than anything happening along the border.

Alex Nowrasteh at the Cato Institute posted an article recently breaking down the numbers. It doesn’t look good for the president and his zombified MAGA supporters.

“First, the crime rate in the 23 counties along the U.S. border with Mexico is below that of counties in the United States that do not lie along the Mexican border,” Nowrasteh writes. “Violent and property crime rates are both slightly lower along the border, but the homicide rate along the border is a whopping 34 percent below the homicide rate in non-border counties. If the entire United States had a homicide rate as low as that along the border in 2017, then there would have been about 5,720 fewer homicides nationwide that year.”

He points out that illegal immigrants “apprehended along the border have a low criminal conviction rate… The most serious offense of ‘homicide, manslaughter’ accounted for 0.04 percent of all convictions of apprehended illegal immigrants from FY2015 through August 31, 2018.”

Nowrasteh points out “resident illegal immigrants are less likely to be incarcerated or convicted of crimes than native-born Americans. The estimated nationwide illegal immigrant incarceration rate in 2016 was 47 percent below that of native-born Americans, including those in immigration detention.

If dangerous drug smugglers, cartel assassins, gang members, and other violent individuals (including nonexistent terrorists) were in fact a serious issue, there would be scores of Border Patrol agents killed in the line of duty.

“Border Patrol agents are unlikely to be murdered while on the job. If there was a national emergency on the border, we should at least expect that that would be reflected in a murder rate of Border Patrol agents killed in the line of duty. From 2003 through the end of 2018, six Border Patrol agents were murdered on the job. All of those are tragic, but that amounts to a murder rate of about 2 per 100,000 agents per year during that time. That’s far below the national murder-rate of about 5.1 per 100,000 per year during the same time.”

Trump rants about gang violence, but as Cato notes “gang apprehensions by Border Patrol agents in the Fiscal Year 2018 (through August 31st), account for about 0.2 percent of all apprehensions.  One must take these statistics with a grain of salt, but there is no obvious large-scale crossing of gang members along the border.”

Trump’s claim about terrorists crossing the border is pure, unadulterated bunkum. “The perceived threat of terrorists crossing the border with Mexico has been a major justification for beefing up security, but there is little justification for it.  Those most worried about terrorists infiltrating along the border cannot point to any attack, any conviction for planning an attack, or any plot planned by an illegal immigrant who crossed the border with Mexico from 1975 through the end of 2017.”

In short, Trump’s justification for imposing a national emergency is based on hyperbole, similar to the exaggerations and lies told following the attacks of 9/11.

Constitutional attorney and author John W. Whitehead writes that Trump’s national emergency “is not about illegal immigration or porous borders or who will pay to build that wall. This is about unadulterated power and the rise of an ‘emergency state’ that justifies all manner of government tyranny in the so-called name of national security.”

He believes the “seeds of this present madness were sown more than a decade ago when George W. Bush stealthily issued two presidential directives that granted the president the power to unilaterally declare a national emergency.”

For Trump, the border wall is all about his legacy and his grossly overinflated ego. The border wall remains his number one issue, never mind it is a mirage in the desert that disappears when reality is factored in.

Trump built casinos and developed real estate, but when it comes to politics—and especially foreign policy—he is an ignoramus. Donald Trump is certainly unfit for the job. He will eventually be either voted or thrown out of office and the “swamp,” the “deep state” of insiders and corporate interests will find another smooth-talker like Obama to mollify an uninformed and ignorant public.

The real national emergency is an unsustainable national debt. This avalanche will ultimately bury the American people alive and make the largely imaginary situation on the border look like a fender-bender by way of comparison.

Finally, if Trump and his CFR-Goldman Sachs handlers really wanted to stop people crossing the border, they would forbid illegal immigrants from recieving welfare handouts and other goodies (including the unearned “right” to vote for Democrats).

Additionally, his administration—now replete with neocons like Bolton, Abrams, and Pompeo—will make the flight of Central Americans far worse.

They plan to take down both Venezuela and Nicaragua. The violence-wracked “Northern Triangle”—El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras—was made possible by US intervention in the region. The “civil wars” in El Salvador and Guatemala were fueled by the US. It organized and trained death squads and staged a coup in Guatemala. Honduras was destabilized by US support for the Contras. Reagan’s “freedom fighters” killed untold numbers in its effort to destroy the Sandinistas in Nicaragua.

It is entirely possible Trump knows virtually nothing about this, along with most of the rest of the country, which remains locked in a “civil war” of its own, artificially produced in classic Hegelian fashion to distract you from real issues—a national debt of crushing proportion and the scourge of wars engineered to never end and feed an obese military-industrial-surveillance complex.

National Emergency? It’s Not the Border

Trump has declared a national emergency in a last ditch effort to get his wall built on “public” and private land.

The reality of poor Central American campesinos crossing the southern border in search of free stuff in return for voting Democrats into office is overshadowed by another national emergency, one few want to talk about—the national debt.

After that puppy implodes, there will be millions of born-and-bred Americans screaming for free stuff at the expense of the “one percent,” that is to say your garden variety millionaires, not the 0.01 percent.

Ask Jeff Bezos how this works. His company hauled in record profits and paid zero income tax. Ask Bill Gates, the second richest man in the world after Bezos. Like the Rockefeller clan before him, Gates set-up a foundation to protect his immense fortune. Now he’s doing God’s work pushing vaccines to lower world population, a goal he shares with the globalist aristocracy and its predatory financial class. There’s too many of us and this is a problem for the one-worlders. It looks like the solution is to eventually starve us out.

Trump’s billion-something dollar wall will naturally add to the real crisis—out of control government spending and a titan-sized debt. A few days ago, the Treasury Department said the national debt has reached further into the stratosphere, now surpassing $22 trillion. Of course, this figure doesn’t include “unfunded liabilities.” That figure is said to be around $211 trillion and it is entirely possible the number is a low ball.

Right now the cost of interest on the national debt is $343 billion and this will soon rise to $555 billion. This bankster-created trap will keep us—and our children, grand children, and their grand children—locked in unpayable debt long after Donald Trump and members of Congress have shifted off the mortal coil.

This is unsustainable and sooner or later the bottom will fall out of the economy, ushering in society-wide poverty and misery, a Greater Depression. If you think this is all happenstance, think again.

“It was no accident. It was a carefully contrived occurrence,” House Banking Committee Chairman Louis McFadden said during the first Great Depression. “The international bankers sought to bring about a condition of despair here so they might emerge as rulers of us all.”

The national emergency has little to do with immigrants flooding over the border. If that were the case, the problem could be eliminated in short order by refusing “public services” to non-citizens. If the carrot were to be removed from the stick, most of these desperate and long-impoverished folks would stay home.

How to Pay for Free Stuff? Tax Porn!

An Arizona Republican thinks she can get Trump’s wall built by imposing a tax on folks who look at porn on the web.

AZCentral reports:

Republican state Rep. Gail Griffin, R-Hereford, wants to charge you $20 to look at pornography on the internet.

House Bill 2444 would require companies that make or sell electronic devices in Arizona to install software that blocks porn.

To remove the block, all you’d have to do is prove you are 18 and plunk down $20, payable to the Arizona Commerce Authority.

The money would go into a newly created account called the John McCain Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation Fund, with the proceeds to be used for one of 10 things.

Don’t be fooled by the title. The legislation is merely another revenue generation scam by the state. It has nothing to do with human trafficking or child exploitation.

But wait a minute. Maybe AOC (socialist darling Alexandria Occasion-Cortez) should propose a similar idea to pay for her list of free goodies, including the budget-busting idea everybody should be on Medicare and college should be free (an idea that will certainly rile up the loan sharks feeding off student loans).

Despite her inability to grasp simple economic concepts—seemingly a common problem among the Millennial Generation—AOC might embrace the concept of heavily taxing folks for what they view in the privacy of their own homes. In fact, it can fit comfortably within the context of the Me Too movement. All aspects of “toxic masculinity” are to be eradicated.

By why stop at porn? Billionaire Michael Bloomberg, the former mayor of New York, blazed a path with his sugary drink tax. Last year, he put together a task force to look at expanding revenue generation by taxing all manner of unhealthy “lifestyle choices,” including the use of tobacco and alcohol.

AOC is apparently oblivious to the fact no number of new taxes, including her proposed 70 percent tax rate on millionaires, will satiate the desire for “free things” which are, of course, not free. Billionaires, however, are smart—they invariably come up with ways to avoid the long reach of the tax man, thus leaving the monetary burden to you and me, the little people.

Maybe I’m not giving this lady a fair shake. It’s possible she realizes no amount of taxation—short of total confiscation of all wealth by the state—will pay for the list of free things she promises habitually gullible citizens.

It’s possible she understands the only way to pay for free things is to borrow the money and play a few ledger book tricks at the Federal Reserve.

Far too many Americans are oblivious to a massive debt picking up steam like a runaway train descending a 45 degree trajectory. AOC’s supporters—mostly of the clueless socialist stripe—are milling about on the tracks. They are deaf, blind, and dumb to the impending disaster.

After the smashup, they’ll be out for blood.

The Real Rape Culture

Did you know Senator Susan Collins enables rape? She voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh, so what other conclusion can be reached? Not that Kavanaugh was accused of rape and it turned out to be almost impossible to prove he forced himself on a girl three long decades ago.

Republican Congress critters were stalked, harangued, and bullied as they left the temple. This harassment, described as a protest, was sponsored by the Center for Popular Democracy, a nonprofit funded by Soros’ Open Society Foundations and the Ford Foundation, the latter a longtime CIA front.

If we are to believe these folks, Senator Collins might as well have held down a fifteen year old girl while drunken Republicans defiled her. Collins’ vote for Kavanaugh is a vote for the “patriarchy” and “rape culture.”

During her tenure as the Senator from Maine, Collins has taken campaign money from finance, real estate, insurance, and “defense” corporations, same as the majority of her colleagues.

Ms. Collins and practically every other member of Congress serve the real rape culture, the one hardly ever mentioned—the rape of the American people by the financial class and its interlocked and crossbred transnational corporations.

This topic is assiduously avoided by the careerists in Congress. They’re more comfortable with the Kavanaugh political theater, the Grand Distraction, even if a few of them are chased down the street by people suffering from a brevity of logic and higher brain functioning.

Ever since the Federal Reserve was created in the dead of night during Christmas of 1913, the bankers have raped America.

Former Fed chairman Ben Bernanke admitted the privately held cartel masquerading as a government institution engineered the Great Depression. It enabled Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan’s manipulation of hedge funds and selling short the toxic subprime mortgages they created.

All the while, Congress stood beside these criminal racketeers, facilitating wholesale theft and looting. It passed the Garn-St. Germaine Depository Institution Act in 1982, thus deregulating the Savings and Loan industry and allowing wild speculation that resulted in a crisis that ultimately cost the American taxpayer over $200 billion. Three years before, Congress had loosened up regulations on pensions and this brought in the financial class vultures.

In 1999 Republican Phil Gramm led the charge to trash the Glass-Stiegel Act, a law passed during the Great Depression to erect a firewall between investment and commercial banking. This resulted in a long-term sacking by the Goths and Huns of the financial class.

But these entitled vandals were far from finished. The following year Gramm stuck the Commodity Futures Modernization Act in a must-pass bill. This sneaky law gave a green light for unchecked derivatives transactions between “sophisticated parties,” that is to say the financial elite. These unrestrained derivatives led to the infamous credit default swap and are directly responsible for the 2008 financial crisis and the hobbled economy eating away at the middle class.

“It was all a lie—one of the biggest and most elaborate falsehoods ever sold to the American people,” writes Matt Taibbi. “We were told that the taxpayer was stepping in—only temporarily, mind you—to prop up the economy and save the world from financial catastrophe. What we actually ended up doing was the exact opposite: committing American taxpayers to permanent, blind support of an ungovernable, unregulatable, hyper concentrated new financial system that exacerbates the greed and inequality that caused the crash, and forces Wall Street banks like Goldman Sachs and Citigroup to increase risk rather than reduce it.”

Trillions of dollars in amassed debt now hangs by a thread over our heads like the mythical Sword of Damocles.

According to the Treasury Department, as of October 2 the “debt held by the public” is $15,757,097,388,254.30. It has increased by $1,271,158,167,126.72 since Trump took office. It is projected the national debt will hit $99 trillion dollars by 2048.

None of this appears on the radar of the American people, soon to be witless victims of another artificially created “Great Recession” as shiny new asset bubbles prepare to burst and rain immiseration down on the American people.

Meanwhile, there is a nonstop Kavanaugh-Mueller-Manafort-etc. circus performance to distract us from the mudslide of economic reality that inches closer every day.

Bernie Sanders’ Socialist Medicare For All Will Cost $33 Trillion Over 10 Years

The Bernie Sanders “Medicare for all” plan will cost a whopping $32.6 trillion dollars over just ten years.  In case anyone is keeping up with the math, that’s over ten trillion more than the United States entire national debt.

Paying for this socialist scheme would require an increase in taxation.  In fact, the amount all taxpayers would have to pay would more than double, reported Reason.  A new study released Monday by the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, a free market think tank, said that the analysis attempts to apply a price tag to the single-payer proposal backed by Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). It is currently known as the “Medicare-for-all” plan. Sanders’ plan would see the federal government replace private health insurance that Americans currently receive as a benefit of employment or purchase independently, and would have the federal government become responsible for current state-level health care spending.

Great.  Just what we all need. More government in our lives and a doubling of our taxes – which are theft, by the way.

Even with conservative cost estimates (conservative because the estimate assumes, as Sanders does, that the single-payer plan would deliver savings in administrative costs and drug prices), the Medicare-for-all plan would require an “unprecedented” increase in government spending, writes Charles Blahous, the study’s author.  You don’t say? A massive expansion of the ruling class’ bureaucrats.  Sound like it’ll cheap…and effective too! (Insert eye roll here). Are we all ready to feel the Bern in our wallets?

“Doubling all federal individual and corporate income taxes going forward would be insufficient to fully finance the plan, even under the assumption that provider payment rates are reduced by over 40 percent,” says Blahous, who was a health policy advisor to President George W. Bush and served as a Medicare trustee during the Obama administration. “Such an increase in the scope of federal government operations would precipitate a correspondingly large increase in federal taxation or debt and would be unprecedented if undertaken as an enduring federal commitment.”

Vermont experimented with single-payer health care a few years ago, but ultimately abandoned the project in 2014 because it was too costly, reported Reason Additionally, in Colorado, voters rejected a proposed single-payer system in 2016 when faced with the prospect of increasing state payroll taxes by 10 percent to meet the estimated $25 billion annual price tag.  Imagine the outrage at asking people to tolerate their federal tax burden to double.

Figuring out how to pay for a single-payer system remains a serious problem for supporters of the idea. With more than $21 trillion already on the national credit card, it would be beyond irresponsible to pass a wildly expensive overhaul of the health care system without adequately funding it. Supporters of single-payer will have to convince Americans that it is worth paying twice (or more) as much in taxes in order to get “free” healthcare (and abolish premiums, co-pays, and deductibles). –Reason

In polls, support for single-payer health care declines substantially after respondents are told about the associated costs.  Instead of the massive intrusive government-run and inefficient health care system, we could give the free market a chance.  Of course, having control over their own health is far too scary for the enslaved masses.
