CNN Anchor Calls Out Tlaib for Holocaust Comments

CNN anchor John King called out Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) for inaccurate and offensive comments about the Holocaust, saying it left her with a “calming feeling,” and that her Palestinian ancestors created a “safe haven” for Jews persecuted during World War II.

The Daily Wire’s Ryan Saavedra tweeted out a clip of King’s remarks: “CNN‘s John King slams Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s (D-MI) anti-Semitic remarks on the Holocaust: ‘Palestinian leaders at the time sided with Hitler’”

“‘Calming’ is at best an awkward word choice in any sentence referencing the Holocaust,” King said on the air at CNN. “She also fails a critical fact and context test. Yes, as she said, Palestinians lost land in the creation of Israel. But, she ignored the fact that Palestinian leaders at the time allied themselves with Hitler and that total war was how the Arab world reacted to the declaration of Israeli independence.”

Tlaib during an interview with the Skullduggery podcast in an episode titled “From Rashida With Love.”

“There’s always kind of a calming feeling I tell folks when I think of the Holocaust, and the tragedy of the Holocaust, and the fact that it was my ancestors — Palestinians — who lost their land and some lost their lives, their livelihood, their human dignity, their existence in many ways, have been wiped out, and some people’s passports,” Tlaib said to podcast hosts Michael Isikoff and Daniel Klaidman. “And just all of it was in the name of trying to create a safe haven for Jews, post-the Holocaust, post-the tragedy and the horrific persecution of Jews across the world at that time. And I love the fact that it was my ancestors that provided that, right, in many ways. But they did it in a way that took their human dignity away and it was forced on them,” she added.
