Mandalay Bay Cheif Security Operations Manager Tony Sottile told a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer sometime after 11:30 p.m. on the night of the 1 October massacre that a shooter had emerged into the 100-hallway from a 32nd-floor Vista Suite where he proceeded to move down the hallway possibly while firing rounds as Sottile appears in the footage to be motioning with his arms and hands.
The seasoned security ops manager along with two other men at his sides can been seen in body-worn camera footage approaching the unkown officer after being cleared by Sgt. Manfield.
“We were up on thirty-two,” Sottile explained to the officer who stoped the men to ask questions. “We got cleared and now we’re heading back to our office right there.”
Then, while motioning as if a fully-automatic rifle was being fired from waist-level [i.e. commando style] the security operations manager told the officer: “The guy came out of the room and went down the hallway and hit one of our officers.”
If Sottile’s account is accurate, his encounter with a shooter marks another inconsistancy with the latest and greatest LVMPD investigative report in which never once was it mentioned in the report that Stephen Paddock or anyone else entered the hallway from the Vista Suite to open fire. In fact, it was always reported by the LVMPD that Paddock fired through the door of his 32nd-floor suit down the hallway striking Mandalay Bay Security Guard Jesus Campos in the leg. There was never mention of a shooter traversing down the hallway.
The Mr. Burgandy YouTube channel does an excellent job breaking down the details in the following video which was published on Friday.
A big hat tip to Mr. Burgandy.
